City Council Members to Help Atlanta Habitat Homebuyer Build First Home

WHAT: Members of the Atlanta City Council will join an Atlanta Habitat homebuyer in building her first home leading up to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday and Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 21.

BACKGROUND: Ms. Santecia Bynum is building her first home for she and her 9-year-old daughter. She is a previous resident of the westside and is thrilled to be able to return to the area, specifically the Ashview Heights neighborhood as a homeowner. She works at a local university in its custodial department, and she also has certification in Microsoft Office from Atlanta Technical College. Ms. Bynum enjoys DIY projects and can’t wait to use her skills on her new home.

Atlanta City Council
The Atlanta City Council is the chief policy-making body for the City of Atlanta. It acts by considering and enacting all laws that govern the City. The council also approves the operating and capital budgets for the City as recommended by the mayor, and it continually monitors revenues and expenditures for local government operations.
