Hearing on Allocation of an Emergency Service Grant

PUBLIC NOTICE

The City of Atlanta’s Community Development/Human Services Committee Public Hearing on Allocation of an Emergency Service Grant (ESG) to Project Community Connections, Inc. (PCCI) scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 12:30p.m., was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Public Hearing will be held during the Committee of the Whole on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 1:00p.m. in the Council Chambers.

HUD HAS INFORMED THE ATLANTA THAT THE CITY WILL RECEIVE A ONE-TIME SUPPLEMENTAL ESG APPROPRIATION OF $297972. THIS ADDITIONAL FUNDING IS AWARDED TO ASSIST JURISDICTIONS THAT LOST HOMELESS-SERVICE CAPACITY AFTER JANUARY 2016, BY INCREASING ESG AWARDS FOR THE AFFECTED JURISDICTIONS, PRIMARILY TO FUND RAPID REHOUSING (RRH) FOR HOMELESS PERSONS.

THE CITY PROPOSES TO ALLOCATE THE FUNDING TO PROJECT COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS, INC. (PCCI), WHICH HAS IMPLEMENTED RRH SERVICES UNDER THE 2015 AND 2016 ESG PROGRAMS AND IS CURRENTLY APPROVED FOR RRH FUNDING UNDER THE 2017 ESG PROGRAM. THE INCREASED FUNDS WILL ENABLE PCCI TO PLACE 50 HOMELESS HOUSEHOLDS/125 HOMELESS PERSONS IN PERMANENT, AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
