President's Message

Welcome to the City of Atlanta – where progress is a priority.

If you’ve taken a drive throughout this beautiful city, you’ve witnessed this ongoing advancement which seems to be evident in many of our communities.

Like you, I’m awestruck by the massive growth of our city’s population, the iconic historical landmarks and the burgeoning new residential and commercial construction.

That growth is one of many objectives of the Atlanta City Council. We are more than a group of elected politicians. We are people committed to the districts we serve and the city at large. We are individuals who read your emails and take your phone calls with an earnest desire to address your concerns. This is what drives us.

You are our partners.

You said yes to a multi-year $300 million TSPLOST to buy the remaining right of way for the Atlanta BeltLine and expand trails and greenways in Atlanta. As a result, we’ve seen a consistent flow of ribbon cuttings celebrating new BeltLine connector trails, which will bring us closer to neighboring communities and all they have to offer.

The Atlanta City Council greenlighted a downtown Atlanta Master plan, a 15-year blueprint for growth and redevelopment of downtown Atlanta.

We’ve seen an historic expansion for MARTA, and the completion of the beautiful Mercedes-Benz stadium.

We’ve added more police officers to ensure the safety of our citizens.

We’ve taken proactive steps to reduce traffic congestion with the city’s first Smart Corridor. The technology is part of the Renew Atlanta Infrastructure Bond.

This is just a sampling of the ambitious endeavors underway.

There’s a reason the City of Atlanta has been named a “Top City of the Future.” Our collective pursuits are being executed with future generations in mind.

Yes, we are thriving, but we have much more work to do. We need to work to preserve the livabiity and the character of our neighborhoods while growth and new development continue around them.

We will make sure that the efforts of this council exude a spirit of transparency, openness and accountability.

As we stand on the precipice of even greater progress, we recognize it can’t be done without you. Join us for council meetings, give us your input. The Atlanta City Council is here to inform, engage and listen to the citizens we represent.

You will only get the city you demand. Let’s get to work.
