ATLANTA— The Atlanta City Council on Monday will consider two pieces of legislation addressing unpaved roads throughout the City:

• An ordinance authorizing the first renewal of the Unpaved Roads, Phase 1, Group 2 project at a cost of approximately $2.9 million (26-O-1419).

• A resolution asking the Atlanta Department of Transportation to conduct a comprehensive inventory of all unimproved, unpaved, dirt, gravel, and rocky roads utilized as active roadways within Council Districts 1, 3, 9, 10, 11, and 12, evaluate their maintenance conditions, identify necessary infrastructure improvements, and provide recommendations. (26-R-3799). 

Other items on the agenda include:

• An ordinance transferring approximately $15.6 million from Watershed Reserves to the Flint River Pump Station Upgrades Project (26-O-1413).

• A resolution to exercise a one-year, approximately $22.1 million renewal agreement on behalf of the Department of Watershed Management for major mechanical repairs and services (26-R-3754).

• A resolution to exercise a one-year, approximately $14 million renewal agreement on behalf of the Department of Watershed Management for major mechanical repairs and services (26-R-3755).

• A resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute certain intergovernmental and other agreements if the City of Atlanta is selected to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention (26-R-3800).

• A resolution requesting that City offices and departments establish a formal heat safety plan, explore the expansion of cooling center hours and availability across geographic areas, expand constituent outreach and education efforts, and establish a centralized City website with heat safety information (26-R-3801).

• A resolution seeking to enter into a new intergovernmental agreement (IGA) for joint use of facilities for recreational, athletic and educational purposes, between the City and Atlanta Public Schools (26-R-3803).

• An ordinance approving a memorandum of understanding with respect to the construction, maintenance and operation of a community center and implementing various programming on three undeveloped parcels of City-owned property in and around Center Hill park for 20 years with one five-year renewal option (26-O-1410).

The City Council will present proclamations and recognitions to retiring Atlanta Police Department Assistant Chief Carven Tyus, Atlanta Youth Peace Month, and the Black Chamber of Commerce/National Black Business Month.

The Council meeting will be held in person at 1 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. All meetings will be conducted under the City of Atlanta’s Charter, City Code of Ordinances, and the rules of the Council as adopted for in-person meetings. In-person public comment procedures will be held as previously conducted and adopted by the Council following City Charter Sections 2-104 and 2-105.

The Council’s Committee Chairs briefing will be held in person on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chamber during the week of full Council.

The Committee on Council will convene in the Larry M. Dingle Committee Room at 11 a.m. before Monday’s full Council meeting.
