BACKGROUND: Councilmember Alex Wan will host the Atlanta Department of Transportation in District 6 for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Monroe Drive Safe Streets Project. Some of Atlanta’s advocates for safe transportation for all commuters and neighborhood leaders will attend the groundbreaking, lending their voice to the critical need for the Monroe Drive Safe Streets project. Councilmember Wan has championed the project for over a decade, which will make some of Atlanta’s most congested and hazardous streets safer for bicyclists and pedestrians. Project upgrades include street resurfacing and pedestrian safety improvements between Piedmont Circle and 10th Street, as well as traffic signal upgrades and coordinated timing at intersections throughout the corridor. More information on the Monroe Drive Safe Streets project is available here.
