Atlanta City Council Statement on the Passing of Bobby Cox

ATLANTA — The Atlanta City Council issues the following statement on the passing of National Baseball Hall of Fame member and Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox:

“The Atlanta City Council joins our city, our state and baseball fans across the nation in mourning the passing of Bobby Cox, a legendary manager whose leadership helped define an era of excellence for the Atlanta Braves and for our community.

Bobby Cox was more than a Hall of Fame manager — he was a symbol of consistency, resilience and competitive spirit. Under his guidance, the Braves achieved an unprecedented run of 14 consecutive division titles, a 1995 World Series championship and a standard of professionalism that shaped generations of players and fans. His impact extended far beyond the field, becoming a source of civic pride for Atlanta and a unifying force for our region.

We honor his contributions to the sport, his commitment to our city and the joy he brought to millions. The Atlanta City Council extends its deepest condolences to the Cox family, the Atlanta Braves organization and the countless fans whose lives he touched.

Bobby Cox’s legacy will forever be part of Atlanta’s story.”
