WHEN: Thursday, April 30, 10 a.m.

WHERE: Larry M. Dingle Committee Room, Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue SW

BACKGROUND: The Community Development/Human Services Committee and the Finance/Executive Committee of the Atlanta City Council will convene a joint work session on Thursday, April 30, at 10 a.m. in the Larry M. Dingle Committee Room at Atlanta City Hall. The session will focus on reviewing the recommendations of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative Commission (NRIC).

The NRIC was established by the Council through Resolution 25-R-4088, bringing together representatives of civic institutions, foundations, nonprofits, and government officials to provide advice and recommendations concerning the design and implementation of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative and to ensure equitable economic opportunity for all residents.

"As Atlanta continues to experience historic growth, we recognize that this prosperity has not reached every neighborhood and every resident," said Matt Westmoreland, who serves as Chair of the Community Development/Human Services Committee. "The recommendations contained in this report are designed to directly address the challenges of generational disinvestment by proposing solutions that protect legacy residents from displacement while simultaneously creating neighborhoods that are whole, healthy, thriving and connected."

During the work session, Invest Atlanta will deliver a presentation to provide an overview of the Commission’s recommendations and key takeaways. Members of the Atlanta City Council will have the opportunity to ask questions, engage in discussion, and hear from the public.

"This report is the culmination of three months of analysis, learning, and collaboration, and it stands as a blueprint for how Atlanta can pursue growth in a way that is more equitable and inclusive," Finance/Executive Committee Chair Jason Winston said. "This report will help the City Council make informed decisions that align our city’s capital with our deepest values, ensuring that no neighborhood is left behind as we move Atlanta forward."
