WHO: District 10 Councilmember Andrea L. Boone
Mayor Andre Dickens
WHAT: C.T. Martin Historical Exhibit unveiling
WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 21, 3 p.m.
WHERE: C.T. Martin Recreation Center, 3201 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SW
BACKGROUND: Atlanta City Councilmember Andrea L. Boone, along with Mayor Andre Dickens, invites the public to join them in celebrating the unveiling of C.T. Martin Historical Exhibit on Saturday, Feb. 21, at C.T. Martin Recreation Center, 3201 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SW, starting at 3 p.m.
The historical exhibit tells the story of Clarence Terrell Martin’s life of public service, civil rights, education, and community empowerment and its impact across Atlanta and beyond. Born and raised in Atlanta, it was his work as a university student in social work that inspired his lifelong commitment in addressing community issues on Atlanta’s west side. Martin’s community work includes registering voters with the NAACP, strengthening public safety and transforming neglected neighborhoods. As an Atlanta City Councilmember for District 10 from 1990 to 2017 Martin championed minority businesses in Atlanta, demolishing a blighted apartment complex, and securing the funding for the $17 million Adamsville Natatorium and Community Center, which was renamed after Martin in 2017, among numerous other initiatives and campaigns for public safety in neighborhoods and retail across District 10.
