BACKGROUND: Atlanta City Council President Marci Collier Overstreet and Atlanta City Council will formally proclaim January 15 as Alpha Kappa Alpha Day in the City of Atlanta with a proclamation ceremony and reception in Atlanta City Hall. 55 Trinity Avenue, SW, starting at noon.

Atlanta City Council is honored to welcome First Vice President Charletta Wilson Jacks, along with members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., community leaders, and elected officials to celebrate the day of the sorority’s founding and 118 years of sisterhood and service.

 

About Atlanta City Council

The Atlanta City Council is the chief policy-making body for the City of Atlanta. It acts by considering and enacting all laws that govern the City. The Council also approves the operating and capital budgets for the City as recommended by the mayor, and it continually monitors revenues and expenditures for local government operations.
