Atlanta City Council President Doug Shipman Praises Council Decision to Fund Various Non-Profit Organizations
ATLANTA — Atlanta City Council President Doug Shipman released a statement commending the Council’s decision to authorize a donation from the President’s office carry-forward account of $55,000 to various non-profit organizations that provide charitable services to the arts and theater communities.
“This contribution will directly help organizations that are committed to providing educational services to our theater and art communities,” said Council President Shipman. “These organizations work tirelessly to support the industry and are an integral part of the fabric of Atlanta. I commend the unanimous support from the City Council to authorize this donation to continue to support the exhibitions, performances, and their contributions to our economy.”
The City Council approved the ordinance (25-O-1564) on Monday authorizing the City of Atlanta’s chief financial officer to remit contributions to the following organizations: True Colors Theater, Flux Projects, Hammonds House Museum, Synchronicity Theater, Actors Express, Theatrical Outfit, Horizon Theater, Atlanta Music Project, African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta, Atlanta Celebrates Photography, 7 Stages, Dad’s Garage, and Atlanta Film Society.
Shipman added, “Atlanta is a city that celebrates the creative works of all forms of art, and this is an opportunity to continue to reinvest in the artistic ventures and their communities, including their advocacy for social issues, educational programs, development, and engagement."
