Atlanta Artificial Intelligence Commission Set to Hold First Meeting

BACKGROUND: The Atlanta Artificial Intelligence Commission will host its first meeting on Wednesday, May 7, at 4 p.m. at Atlanta City Hall inside Larry Dingle Committee Room.
In December 2024, the Atlanta City Council approved legislation authored by District 2 Atlanta City Council member Amir Farokhi to establish the Artificial Intelligence Commission to explore the benefits and challenges of using artificial intelligence within city government. The legislation passed following discussions to improve efficiency, analyze data, and increase services for residents to ensure the City is operating at a maximum capacity.
The current members of the Artificial Intelligence Commission include thought leaders and subject matter experts:

About Atlanta City Council
The Atlanta City Council is the chief policy-making body for the City of Atlanta. It acts by considering and enacting all laws that govern the City. The Council also approves the operating and capital budgets for the City as recommended by the mayor, and it continually monitors revenues and expenditures for local government operations. The Atlanta City Council reviews and has the final say on many land-use and zoning matters. Major economic development projects for the City also fall under the council’s consideration.
The Council is composed of 12 districts and three at-large posts.
