Atlanta
City Council Member Yolanda adrean to judge the iron chef food truck battle
ATLANTA
–
Atlanta City Council Member Yolanda Adrean is set to judge the Iron Chef Food
Truck Battle taking place Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Atlanta Food Truck
Park and Market at 1850 Howell Mill Road.
The
culinary competition kicks off at 5:30 p.m. when the Atlanta Food Truck Park and
Market converts into what Scoutmob has dubbed “a culinary Thunderdome.”
The contest pits four of Atlanta’s more celebrated food trucks against each
other in a classic Iron Chef challenge. Each food truck will attempt to
create the most delicious dish possible by incorporating a secret ingredient
announced at the beginning of the competition. The competitors will have
one hour to complete their dish.
Participating
food trucks include Roux’d, Nana G’s, Grilldabeast, and Yoli’s.
Adrean,
along with Grace Lee and Kevin Clarke, owners of restaurants Cruzado and
Homegrown respectively, will crown a “Best Entrée” and “Best Dessert”
based on taste, originality, and presentation. Additionally, all in
attendance will have the opportunity to sample each dish and crown the
“People’s Choice Best Food Truck.”
The
competition highlights Atlanta’s burgeoning food truck industry, which has
quickly emerged as a vibrant element to the city’s culinary culture.
Adrean,
who represents District 8, the area of the city in which the Atlanta Food Truck
Park and Market is located, commented on this growth:
“Lettuce
take a moment to recognize how wonderfully the food truck industry has mushroomed
in the City of Atlanta. The fact that we have the pleasure of hosting this
competition shows it would be a missed steak to dismiss the mobile food
trend as small potatoes or a passing craze. I’m honored to be a
judge in Friday’s event and even more excited to have the opportunity to meat
so many of Atlanta’s mobile food entrepreneurs. These seasoned chefs are sure
to cook up lots of fun!”
The
event will be hosted by Atlanta-based Herb Mesa of “Next Food Network Star”
fame.
