ATLANTA – Residents of Council District 11 will celebrate National Night Out with a variety of activities and events this afternoon and tonight, from community gatherings to a prayer vigil to a school supply give-away.

Councilman Jim Maddox will make his rounds throughout the district to support this nationwide program aimed at reducing crime, drugs, and violence starting at 4 p.m. at the Adams House located at 2280 Campbellton Road.

Councilman Maddox will also visit the residents of the Princeton Lakes Communities off of Camp Creek Parkway at 6:30 p.m. where a school supply give-a-away will be held outside the Princeton Lake Clubhouse in conjunction with National Night Out. Other visits will include Westwood with a Vision/Enrichment, Shamrock Gardens Apartment, Centra Villa Apartments, the Beecher Hills community and the Deerwood Park community.

The 26th Annual National Night Out provides an opportunity for Atlanta to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting cooperative police-community crime prevention efforts.

The citizens of Atlanta play a vital role in assisting our local police department through joint crime, drug, and violence prevention efforts throughout our community.  Police-community partnerships, neighborhood safety, awareness, and cooperation are important themes of the National Night Out program.
