ATLANTA
– Atlanta City Councilmember and Finance/Executive Committee Chairwoman
Felicia A. Moore will be the guest speaker at the April 19 Buckhead Business
Association’s weekly breakfast meeting.
The
breakfast will be held at 7:30 a.m. at the City Club of
Buckhead (18th floor of the Atlanta Financial
Center), 3343 Peachtree Road - Suite 1850 – Atlanta. For more

Since
1951, the Buckhead Business Association (BBA) has been an essential part of the
growth of Buckhead’s business community. Its membership, which includes
business and community leaders from every sector of our local economy, actively
serves the Buckhead community, making Buckhead a great place to do business in
the metro region.
As
a representative (District 9) of a portion of the Buckhead community and as the
chair of the city's Finance Committee, Moore will speak about the new budget
review program she initiated this year to involve the public in the process
early-on.
Residents
are currently being asked to provide input on their level of satisfaction with
selected city services as part of the Atlanta City Council’s 2013 City Budget
Review Process.
The
BBA weekly Thursday breakfast offers Atlanta’s movers and shakers an
opportunity to hear updates on important business, government and community
issues, and enjoy a well-known featured Keynote speaker.
Community
leaders gathered on March 24 for a citizen input meeting at the Boisfeuillet
Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Midtown. Selected
department heads were on-hand to present overviews of their department’s
budgets and services provided to residents.
Attendees
then were surveyed on their satisfaction with an array of city departments in
performing their duties from repairing potholes and sidewalks to response times
for public safety calls. Attendees also had the opportunity to provide feedback
on what level of service is needed to reach their satisfaction.
The
survey will also be available on-line on the City of Atlanta’s website. The
data will be compiled and a report will be generated for review and analysis.
Felicia
Moore was elected to the Atlanta City Council in 1997 and is serving her fourth
term representing the citizens of District 9. The Finance/Executive
Committee in which she chairs recommends on matters pertaining to the City
of Atlanta’s annual budget and transfers of appropriations; the administration
of taxing ordinances and public revenue sources; tax officials and collectors;
the Department of Finance; the executive branch of government, specifically
components in the Department of Administrative Services relating to purchasing
functions of the City; the Department of Personnel and Human Resources;
operation of the Office of the Mayor; Office of Contract Compliance and
Intergovernmental, International and Diplomatic Affairs.
Councilmember
Felicia Moore is also an active member of the National League of Cities (NLC)
and a Past President of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials
(NBC-LEO), a constituency group of NLC.
