CITY COUNCILMEMBER JOYCE M. SHEPERD TO PARTICIPATE IN EARTH DAY ON THE ATLANTA
BELTLINE SATURDAY, APRIL 21
SITE
TO BE CONVERTED INTO AN URBAN FARM ALONG THE ATLANTA BELTLINE
ATLANTA
–Atlanta City Councilmembers Joyce M. Sheperd and Cleta Winslow will join
community volunteers for a clean-up of the site of a future urban farm along the
southwest portion of the Atlanta BeltLine on Saturday, April 21.
The
cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. until noon at the corner of Allene Avenue
and Warner Street (approximately 1150 Allene Avenue, SW).
The
City Council members, community residents along with volunteers from the
University of Georgia, Trees Atlanta, Southeast Horticultural Society, and
Atlanta Audubon Society aim to convert the four acres of old industrial property
into an urban farm adjacent to the Adair Park neighborhood.
Participants
will pick up litter, remove debris, and uproot invasive plants. Once
completed, the farm will include native species, brambles, berry bushes, and
fruit trees.
