SITE TO BE CONVERTED INTO AN URBAN FARM ALONG THE ATLANTA BELTLINE

ATLANTA –Atlanta City Councilmembers Joyce M. Sheperd and Cleta Winslow will join community volunteers for a clean-up of the site of a future urban farm along the southwest portion of the Atlanta BeltLine on Saturday, April 21.

The cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. until noon at the corner of Allene Avenue and Warner Street (approximately 1150 Allene Avenue, SW).

The City Council members, community residents along with volunteers from the University of Georgia, Trees Atlanta, Southeast Horticultural Society, and Atlanta Audubon Society aim to convert the four acres of old industrial property into an urban farm adjacent to the Adair Park neighborhood.

Participants will pick up litter, remove debris, and uproot invasive plants.  Once completed, the farm will include native species, brambles, berry bushes, and fruit trees.
