Community Development/Human Services and Finance/Executive Committees to Hold Joint Work Session on Tax Allocation Districts on Tuesday, Aug. 7
ATLANTA – The Atlanta City Council’s Community Development/Human Services and Finance/Executive Committees will hold a joint work session Tuesday, Aug. 7 on Tax Allocation Districts located in the City of Atlanta.
Tax Allocation Districts are used by the City of Atlanta as an economic development tool to provide financial assistance to eligible public and private redevelopment efforts within an officially designated area or individual TAD. Increases in property tax revenues, which are generated primarily from new investment in the district, are allocated to pay infrastructure costs or certain private development costs within the TAD. This is primarily done through the issuance of tax allocation district bonds.
Representatives from various city departments, Invest Atlanta, the Atlanta Public Schools and Fulton County Government have been invited to attend. There will be no official action taken by members of the Atlanta City Council.
The work session is open to the public and will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chamber at Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue, S.W.
