Councilmember Andre Dickens to Give Away Free Cell Phone Mounts at City Hall
Giveaway Comes Ahead of July 1st Hands-Free Driving Law

ATLANTA—Post 3 At-Large City Councilmember Andre Dickens is giving away 2,000 free cell phone mounts ahead of the hands-free driving law, a statewide measure that goes into effect July 1.

Dickens will hand out several hundred mounts today at City Hall from 12 to 1 p.m., and he will provide roughly 100 more to Constituent Services for distribution to Atlanta residents. Details on next week’s giveaway times are forthcoming.Councilmember Dickens has also partnered with Atlanta Public Schools to distribute remaining mounts to APS juniors and seniors at the beginning of the school year.

Along with officers from Atlanta Public Schools and the Atlanta Police Department, Dickens recently took part in the production of a public service announcement promoting the new law.

“Distracted driving causes too many accidents and takes too many lives,” said Dickens. “I immediately recognized the need for not just education about the new law, but support for our teen drivers, who are the most frequently distracted drivers. By creating this PSA and donating these 2,000 cell phone mounts, my office is doing its part to ensure a safer Atlanta for everyone.”
