Councilmember Michael Julian Bond Acclaims Family Food Fest Atlanta with Proclamation

ATLANTA—Post 1 At-Large Councilmember Michael Julian Bond honored hosts and winners of Family Food Fest Atlanta, a multicultural, family-centered celebration held each Father’s Day, with a proclamation in Monday’s regular meeting of the Atlanta City Council.

Now in its fourth year, Family Food Fest Atlanta brought together families and feasting in a fun-filled, family-friendly afternoon of food tasting. More than 100 men came together to cook their favorite dishes, including pastry chef Derrick Fowler, this year’s winner of the friendly competition. Honorary festival chairpersons included Bond and fellow Councilmember Cleta Winslow (District 4), Congressman John Lewis, Bobbcat Films President Roger Bobb, Collie Burnett of AIB TV, Waffle House retired Senior Vice President Carlton Williamson and others, and event sponsors included the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, Waffle House, Upscale Magazine, Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, MARTA and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution among others.

The City of Atlanta has honored Family Food Fest Atlanta’s umbrella organization, Atlanta Culinary Charities, for 16 years. Atlanta Culinary Charities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides chefs and cooks for afterschool programs in public schools.
