District's Appearance Focus of Councilmember's May 2 Community Event

ATLANTA (May 1, 2018) – District 2 City Councilmember Amir Farokhi takes to the streets Wednesday, May 2, 2018, to get an up-close look at some of the eyesores reported to 311 by constituents in his district — potholes, broken glass, cracked sidewalks and damaged signs, among others. The councilmember will hold a 2 p.m. press conference in the Old Fourth Ward to highlight his new community engagement initiative, Let's Fix it, 2gether

Over the coming months, Farokhi plans to walk each street in his district, including some with volunteers and staff, in order to inventory the issues and request that the city make necessary fixes in short order. His district includes downtown Atlanta, Midtown, Old Fourth Ward, Poncey-Highland, Candler Park and Inman Park.

Both Farokhi and Rocky Atkins, executive director for the City's Office of Customer Service, will speak briefly at the press conference preceding the walk. Atkins' office houses ATL311, the city's non-emergency customer service hotline. Reports may be made by phone or online.

The findings from each walk-through also will be part of a 2018 State of the District report and serve to drive future public policy and possible city budget changes.
