Councilmember Joyce Sheperd to Co-Host Workshop Assisting Homeowners Along Atlanta BeltLine

ATLANTA—Atlanta City Councilmember Joyce M. Sheperd is teaming up with the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership and Home Place Consulting to host a free community workshop on Saturday, May 5 providing information to homeowners who live along the Atlanta BeltLine.

The Atlanta BeltLine Homeowner Empowerment Workshop will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Arthur Langford Jr. Recreation Center, 1614 Arthur Langford Jr. Place.

This two-hour workshop will equip existing homeowners with information on available resources to stay in their homes, or, if they are considering selling, how to evaluate those opportunities. Homeownership consultant Tia McCoy will lead the workshop.

Workshop topics will include:

·       Resources to help homeowners stay in their homes

·       Homeowner-occupied rehab programs

·       Property taxes and tax exemptions

·       Homeowners’ insurance and code enforcement

·       How to calculate the value of your home

·       What investors do with homes they purchase

·       How to get a fair price if you sell

·       How to be engaged in your community

Since 2016, the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership has partnered with Home Place Consulting to provide a series of homeowner-empowerment workshops. These programs were designed to assist existing homeowners in Atlanta BeltLine neighborhoods. They ensure that these individuals have access to the resources necessary to evaluate their options, whether they intend to remain in their homes or are interested in possible opportunities to sell.

Homeowners may pre-register for the workshop via email at empower@atlblp.org, phone at (404) 446-4404, or the Web athttps://beltline.org/events/homeowner-empowerment-workshops/.
