Members of the Atlanta City Council Will Tour City of Atlanta Warming Stations on Saturday, Jan. 6

ATLANTA – Members of the Atlanta City Council will tour Atlanta’s three warming stations beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6.

Wind chill warnings, watches and advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service for the past several days in parts of the South, Midwest and Northeast due to frigid temperatures.

Atlanta has been experiencing below average temperatures throughout the week. Tonight’s low temperature will hover around 21 degrees with a high of 37 degrees on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The City of Atlanta has three warming stations, including a newly opened warming station at Grant Park Recreation Center, located at 537 Park Avenue, S.E.

Two of the city’s warming stations are at capacity. They include the Old Adamsville Recreation Center, located at 3404 Delmar Lane, N.W., and the Central Park Recreation Center, located at 400 Merrits Avenue, N.E.

Tour Schedule:

12 p.m.  - Old Adamsville Recreation Center, located at 3404 Delmar Lane, N.W.

1 p.m. - Grant Park Recreation Center, located at 537 Park Avenue, S.E.

2 p.m. - Central Park Recreation Center, located at 400 Merrits Avenue, N.E.
