ATLANTA CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT CEASAR MITCHELL HOSTS FREE 6TH ANNUAL BACK TO BUSINESS CONFERENCE

Three-day event gives minority, veteran and women entrepreneurs access to new business opportunities

ATLANTA – On August 8 through August 10, 2017, Atlanta City Council President Ceasar Mitchell will host more than 1,000 entrepreneurs and small-business owners at his Back to Business (B2B) Conference. The FREE event exposes attendees to the depth and breadth of the city’s business ecosystem through interactive workshops, panel discussions and a procurement fair. Now in its sixth year, the annual event has attracted nearly 4,000 participants to date.

In addition to giving minority business owners access to critical resources, the B2B Conference provides an opportunity to network and learn best practices. This year’s agenda features leaders from Atlanta’s thriving film and television industry, branding and digital media. The three-day event will culminate with insights from procurement officers representing Fortune 500 companies and federal, state and local government organizations, among others.

“Regardless of how innovative and well-crafted her business plan may be, an entrepreneur’s success can hinge on access to the right intellectual capital, financial resources and decision-makers,” said Mitchell.  “Through the Back to Business Conference, I set out to help make that access a reality for minority-, veteran- and women-owned businesses.”

The 2017 B2B schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, August 8, 6:30-8:30 p.m.: What Social Media Strategy Is Best for You?
General Assembly, 2nd Floor of Ponce City Market (675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, 30308)
In this workshop, attendees will learn a methodology to help guide their efforts to develop an actionable social media strategy. Discussion topics will include how to structure social media platforms, deploy limited resources and ultimately launch a professional, results-driven social media campaign.

Wednesday, August 9, 6-8:30 p.m.: Plugging into Business Opportunities in the Movie and TV Industry
The Gathering Spot (384 Northyards Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30313)
Now known as the “Hollywood of the South,” Atlanta offers new opportunities in the film and TV industry. Attendees will learn from experts how to take part in the movement and connect to potential opportunities. Networking with economic and creative leaders will follow the panel discussion.

Thursday, August 10, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Back to Business Conference
Atlanta Metropolitan State College (1630 Metropolitan Pkwy SW, Atlanta, 30310)
More than 90 exhibitors will be on hand to speak about their procurement opportunities and processes. Attendees may interface with exhibitors from private and public corporations as well as federal, state and local government agencies. Confirmed exhibitors include The Home Depot, Porsche Cars North America, UPS, The Coca-Cola Company, Georgia Power, SunTrust, The General Service Administration, Fulton County and the City of Atlanta, to name a few.
