Atlanta City Council to Honor Michael “Killer Mike” Render, Consider Funding for the Homeless Opportunity Bond, and More

What: Among the agenda items scheduled for Monday’s regular City Council meeting:

  • The Council will honor Grammy Award-winning artist, activist and business owner Michael “Killer Mike” Render with a proclamation presentation.
  • The Council will consider issuing $26 million in bonds for its Homeless Opportunity Project, which seeks to make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring in Atlanta. The bonds would be used to support capital projects to reduce homelessness, including housing solutions.
  • The Council will consider setting aside additional funding for increased animal control services through 2017. The funds would help cover the cost of animal control equipment and personnel training. Fulton County provides animal control services within the city of Atlanta through a contract with an approved animal-control-services vendor under the direction and control of the county.
  • The Council will consider placing a moratorium on permits for new construction of self-storage facilities, secured-storage or mixed used storage facilities within the Beltline Zoning Overlay District.
