ATLANTA- On Earth Day, Council President Ceasar Mitchell participated in numerous clean up and beautification events, and lent support to community partners and citizen volunteers.

On Friday, April 21st, the Council President supported events at The Greater Springfield Baptist Church and Lindsay Street Baptist Church, along with community groups such as Friends of English Avenue and volunteers from the City of Atlanta and corporate partners.  On Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd, the Council President held his annual Tire Drive at Proctor Creek.  Liberty Tire Recycling and Keep Atlanta Beautiful Commission partnered with the Office of Council President to remove tires from the Vine City and English Avenue communities.

“Keep Atlanta Beautiful Commission is committed to keeping the city a clean and beautiful place for citizens to work, live and play. Earth Month is a perfect opportunity for people to come together and recommit to picking up litter in their neighborhoods, recycling more and beautifying their community”, Kanika Greenlee, Executive Director --Keep Atlanta Beautiful Commission

The Council President engaged with Trees Atlanta and The Captain Planet Foundation in their community beautification efforts as well.

"The challenged areas of our city have a compelling story to tell of perseverance and progress.  Earth Day is an opportunity to collaborate with organizations such as Friends of English Avenue, The Keep Atlanta Beautiful Commission, The Captain Planet Foundation and numerous other city, corporate, and non-profit volunteers to tell that story in a powerful way", stated the Council President.
